New Web Map Directs Travelers to Green Toronto – Global Sound

Global Sound – Toronto, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) June 13, 2004

The Green Tourism Association launched Toronto’s only Green Tourism Web Map on June 10th, 2004. This new interactive online tool makes it easy for travelers to find information on nature, culture and urban adventure in the Toronto region.

The Green Tourism Web Map highlights over 200 listings including: heritage and cultural sites; green businesses including restaurants and accommodations; parks, gardens and conservation areas; walking tours; organic and natural food retailers; and outdoor equipment rental sites.

The interactive map lets users search by category and use navigation tools that zoom in, out and directionally to access information. A printer friendly map ready for use is also available.

“With travelers doing more trip planning and destination research online, we wanted visitors to have Toronto’s green tourism information at their fingertips,” says Green Tourism Association President Brian Jamieson. “Our goal is to have visitors use this unique resource to get out and enjoy the city while keeping it green and beautiful.”

The Green Tourism Web Map is part of the international Green Map System™, a globally connected locally adaptable eco-cultural program for community sustainability that encourages discovery, personal involvement and greener everyday choices. Currently over 240 projects are active in 41 countries, and more than 150 Green Maps have been published.

The Green Tourism Web Map was developed for the Green Tourism Association by Destination Ontario, a marketing and software development company. The innovative design uses Geographic Information System (GIS) coordinates to link listings to the interactive map.
